Vegetarian Countries and Meat-eating People
Recently, we often hear news about cows that died at cattle ranches without explanation. While people have looked into various factors that might have caused the death, they have not considered the cause of feeding cows with meat. If cows see that you are feeding them raw meat, they would not eat it. So, you have to make a soup with meat, feed them with other fodder, or pulverize the meat and mix in it with other fodder so that the cows do not know what they are being fed. In England, where many cows have died, the farmers may have fed their cows in this way. Even nutritionists, ranchers, and scientists do not doubt that the fodder mixed with meat may be fatal to the cows and that this might be the cause of prion protein found in their bodies. Therefore, it is possible that the feed given to the cows with meat mixed in it is the cause of death. Although this has not been proven to be conclusive factor of the death, we nevertheless cannot blame anyone for feeding cows with meat since nobody knew this fact and had evil intention.
The Mystery of the Creator in the Constitutional Diet
When we look at the matter of diet from a constitutional point of view, we see a secret of the Creator in His creation of a cow as an animal that lives on grass but not on meat. Just as a cow cannot change itself to be carnivorous because there is not enough grass to feed on, so also carnivores cannot become herbivorous because there is no more prey where they inhabit. This is a mystery of life.
Animals are classified into carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores. Similarily, human beings also have their diet classified into eight types within their own species. The strictness of an animal’s diet is an indication of how strict human beings' diet should be. The difference is that the result of human beings not keeping proper diet is the contracting of diseases at first, but the ultimate result is the same as that of animals—death. A person may remain healthy by marrying someone who has the opposite constitution of his own, even if he keeps eating what he is not supposed to eat. These people may not acknowledge and value the constitutional diet based on their experience, but they will realize that it will become rational at a certain point of their life.
Many who do not know about the mystery of body constitution think that to have a balanced diet is most ideal. Of course, it is better to be on a balanced diet than to erroneously think you are a certain constitution and eat the wrong food continuously. In a balanced diet, certain foods will benefit a person's constitution, while other foods will not.
Nevertheless, a balanced diet is the best way to keep one’s health if he does not know his body constitution. However, if people can find their own constitution, eating only the beneficial food for the constitution will be the best diet, just as cows live on grass and lions and tigers eat meat. Certain regions on the earth are suitable for meat-eaters to live and other regions are good for vegetable-eaters or fish-eaters because every region has its indigenous food products. Interestingly, in some places, certain foods have become part of the national diet.
In Japan people have lived mainly on fish and vegetables for thousands of years. Actually, it was the diet of one of its prestigious rulers in the past. He had no knowledge of body constitution, but somehow he came up with an idea that he should protect the people’s health by promoting the diet that benefited him. Therefore, he gave a national order that all the people should be on the same diet. Consequently, the constitutions that were supposed to eat meat got naturally weeded out and only the constitutions that fit eating vegetables remained to form the present nation. This may be the reason that Japan became the top country for longevity in the world and the country that has the least dissension among people.
In the countries located inland or in mountainous areas, the constitutions that should avoid eating meat might have been weeded out, and the constitutions that benefit from meat might have remained and formed the nations. One can easily expect this kind of result, when we consider it from the constitutional point of view.
